American Indian Feast at Garvies Point Museum & Preserve
Saturday & Sunday, Nov. 19th & 20th from from 10am to 4pm
At the American Indian Feast held at Garvies Point Museum & Preserve in Glen Cove, you'll find demonstrations of American Indian cooking and fire making, pottery-making, films, corn grinding, tools and spear-throwing. It is equally interesting and educational for adults and children alike. Admission is $5.00 and is free for children 4 and younger. The museum is located at 50 Barry Dr in Glen Cove. 1863 Thanksgiving Celebration at Old Bethpage Village Restoration

An 1863 Thanksgiving Celebration will feature exciting demonstrations of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner prepared in old-fashioned wood burning stoves, beehive ovens, and open hearths. It is an authentic look at how Thanksgiving used to be celebrated back in 1863. Admission is $10.00 and $7.00 for ages 5-12 and older than 60. Evening Tower Tour at the Fire Island Lighthouse
Saturday, Nov. 26th
Explore the lighthouse at night! Begins at 4pm and is $15 per person. You need reservations. The lighthouse is at 4640 Captree Island, Captree Island, NY. Call the lighthouse at (631) 661-4876 for more information. Get directions to the lighthouse.
Lighting the Montauk Lighthouse 2011
Saturday, November 26 from 4:30pm - 7:00pm
Rain Date: Saturday, Dec. 3th, 2011
Parking and admission to the lighthouse grounds are free.
The lighthouse will be lit up in celebration of the beginning of the holiday season. The beautiful lights will be spectacular, with thousands of bulbs surrounding the lighthouse. Included in the event will be holiday music, caroling, and an appearance by Santa. The lights remain on nightly until 1/1/12. The holiday lights are a gift from the Montauk Historical Society for Long Island.
Long Island Festival of Trees
November 25 - 27th

This fun holiday event takes place at the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City. Admission is $12 and includes entry into the Cradle of Aviation, a ride on the carousel, entertainment, and activities.
Thanksgiving Celebration at the Historic Glen Cove Mansion
Thursday, Nov. 25
Seatings at 1pm and 4pm
There will be a Thanksgiving Buffet at the Glen Cove Mansion and the menu will be reminiscent of a celebration from 100 years ago. Reservations are $49 p/p, $24.50 for children 4-13, and 3 and under are free. The buffet takes place in the beautiful Garden Terrace restuarant. The mansion is at 200 Dosoris Lane, Glen Cove. Holiday Parade and Miracle on Main Street

The Greater Sayville Food Pantry is hosting this event. Please bring non-perishable donations to this annual event. There will be shopping cart elves that will collect all the gifts before the parade. The parade starts at the corner of Montauk Hwy. & Handsome Ave.
Burn off some calories before that huge Thanksgiving dinner and take part in a fun run! Many are to raise money for various charities or funds.
4th Annual Mary Newman "Can't Means Won't" 5K Run/Walk Benefiting the Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation & P.A.W.S. Animal Rescue of Greater Sayville

1st Annual Mount Sinai Turkey Trot 5k

All proceeds from this race go to Holiday Magic, a not-for-profit organization that provides holiday generosity and spirit to those less fortunate.
4th Annual Smiles Change Lives Turkey Trot in Blue Point
Thursday, Nov. 24th
Take part in a 5k run, 1.5 mile walk, or the kid's fun run. The race is sponsored by Smiles Change Lives, a nonprofit organization that provides life changing orthodontic treatment for under priviliged kids.
31st Annual Thanksgiving Day Race in Shoreham
Thursday, Nov. 24th
This race takes place at Miller Avenue School in Shoreham. The race starts at 8am with a 5k and 1 mile races at 8am and 8:15am. There is a 5 mile challenge at 8:50am. Please see the registration info for further details.
The 8K Duck Trot
Sunday, Nov. 27th at 9am
The race is held at Eisenhower Park and begins in front of the Main Field House, between parking lots 1 and 2. The race is organized the the Long Island Runners Club.
Garden City 2011 Turkey Trot

5 Mile Turkey Trot: 10am
The Turkey Trot takes place at St. Paul's School, 285 Stewart Ave, in Garden City.
Old Whalers Community House 5k

Sunday, Nov. 27th at 9:15am

Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot in Huntington

This run is sponsored by the Town of Huntington and includes a 4 mile run and a 1/2 mile fun run for the youngsters. Sign up and register.
