There are many October Events on Long Island where you can go pumpkin picking, enjoy hay rides, and celebrate the beginning of Autumn. With the colorful leaves outside, and the fresh, cool air, it's a wonderful time to be outside and enjoy some home made apple cider. Many craft show vendors make hand made fall items for your lawn and household.

Take Steps Eastern Long Island Walk
Where: Suffolk Community College at 121 Speonk-Riverhead Road, Riverhead NY 11901
When: Oct. 1st
Registration starts at 3pm, walk starts at 3:45pm.
Take steps for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. If you raise $1,000 or more by yourself or $5,000 or more with a team you can be part of the Loud & Proud Club and get recognized for your fundraising efforts to benefit Crohns disease and ulcerative colitis.
Lynbrook Music and Art Festival
Saturday, Oct. 1st
A celebration of music and art in Greis Park. Created by the administrators, teachers, and staff at Lynbrook school district.
Greis park is 55 Wilbur St, Lynbrook. For more information call the recreation Dept:(516) 599-8000.
There will be live music by Flyin Sideways and the Sunrise. There is also an art auction with unique jewelry, photography, and more. The festival will raise money for struggling families.
18th Annual Long Island Fall Festival
When: Friday, Sept. 30 from 11am to 10pm with entertainment carnival, & park food court
Saturday, Oct. 1 from 11am to 10pm with carnival & park food court and live performances; 11am to 6pm: street vendors.
Sunday, Oct. 2: 11am to 10pm with carnival & park food court with free live performances; 11am to 6pm: street vendors; 12:30pm to 3pm: Columbus Day Parade; 3pm to 3:30pm: meatball eating contest.
This event is Free! A huge festival at Heckscher Park in Huntington, NY with a carnival, huge craft fair, beer and wine tent, farmer's market, and children's activities. You can park at the Huntington Train Station with a $1.00 round-trip shuttle.
27th Annual Egyptian Festival

When: Frid, Sept.30th from 6pm to 9pm; Sat, Oct. 1st from 11am to 9pm; Sun, Oct. 2nd from 12pm to 6pm
There will be homemade Egyption Dishes like shish-kebab and falafel. Also King Tut movie and slide shows, jewelry, artifact replicas, and handmade crafts.
2nd Annual Motorcycle Ride and Dice Run

Mental illness often has a negative stigma associated with it. This motorcycle run is a ride for hope for those suffering from mental illness or for those who know someone who is. The event will educate the public about depression, anxiety, and suicide.

Antique and Antique Auto Extravaganza
Where: North station plaza LIRR (Middle Neck Rd.) in Great Neck
When: Oct. 2nd from 9am to 4pm

10th Annual West Hempstead Street Fair
Sunday, October 2
The fair will take place on Nassau Blvd. next to Halls Pond park. It takes place from 10am to 5pm, rain or shine. There will be rides, clowns, a magician, music, and plenty of vendors.

Fall Festival at Sagtikos Manor
Where: Sagtikos Manor is located on Montauk Hwy and Manor Lane.

Fall Family Festival

Coe Hall Mansion at Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park
1395 Planting Fields Rd, Oyster Bay, NY 11772
This is the first annual fall festival at the Planting Fields Arboretum State Park. There will be plenty of activities for kids including a costume parade and contest, trick or treating in the mansion, pumpkin picking, a pumpkin painting contest, a bouncer, and potato sack races.
There will be local breweries on hand. You can get Brewer's Village Tickets: $20 for a beer bracelet and unlimited tastings. The Brewer's Village Ticket can be purchased inside the mansion during the festival weekend or in advance. You can enjoy live music with "Ready in 10." The music will be from 1pm to 5pm both days. 2011 Making Strides of Long Island, NY

11th Annual Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk

The walk is to educate the public about pancreatic cancer and is part of a public awareness campaign of the Lustgarten Foundation. It will take place at Jones Beach in Wantagh, NY. You can participate in either a 1 or 3 mile walk.

18th Annual Walk-Along for Lupus

This is Long Island's 1st and longest running Lupus walk. Greg T from z-100 will be there, along with breakfast, lunch, face painting, and more. Registration begins at 8:30am; walk begins at 10am.
Building for their Tomorrow Walk
When: Saturday, October 22 2011 from 11am to 1pm; reception is from 1pm – 4pm
Where: Eisenhower Park, East Meadow, NY 11554 / Parking Lot 6A
There will be live music & refreshments at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow during the walk to raise money for autism.

Long Island Pet Reptile Expo
