Visiting the Long Island Wineries is a fun way to spend the day!

Long Island Wineries - that is what the east end of long island is known for! With over 40 beautiful and scenic vineyards, it is proudly compared to the likes of Napa Valley, CA. There are well over a million visitors a year! You owe it to see yourself to experience the beauty of the wineries Long Island has to offer.

Eastern Long Island can be divided into the North Fork and the South Fork. The vineyards are plentiful, but most are on the north fork in Suffolk County. Check out all the North Fork wineries!
The first vineyard was established in 1973 and is called Castello di Borghese, Nowadays, there is a wide variety of wineries ranging from small and intimate to large and well established.

Some of the more well known wineries to visit are Bedell Cellars ,Duck Walk, and Martha Clara Vineyard.

The wineries are very popular for weddings, romantic weekends and honeymoons. There are many charming restaurants in the area and cozy bed and breakfast accommodations nearby. The large hotel chains are non-existant in this area. Many wineries host outdoor events, including live music.

The more popular red wine varieties include Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and the white wines include Riesling, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc. Wines flavors vary according to the region they are grown and many people often keep a wine log to keep track of the grape variety that they like.


How popular are the wineries?

Our wine region is the 3rd largest in the United States! And it's not far from NYC - just an hour and a half drive.

There is even a smartphone app which allows users to find wineries and plan a route with a GPS map feature. The app includes information regarding the wineries, information on tours, and nearby restaurants and accommodations.

How would you get to enjoy the beauty and culture of the wineries without the proper transportation? Long Island winery tours are hugely popular as they allow you to relax and enjoy the day without worrying about driving.
