The Giant Screen Theater (Leroy R. & Rose W. Grumman Giant Screen Dome Theater):
"A unique experience of motion, sound and sight". The theater shows museum documentaries and many popular films. The theater is currently showing movies like "Sharks", "Tornado Alley", and "Legends of Flight", however the schedule can change. You can click the link to see movies and showtimes.
Admission into the theater:
The carousel was originally part of Nunley's Amusement Park in Baldwin, NY. The amusement park closed and the carousel was stored in the Mitchel Field hangar next to the Cradle of Aviation Museum. The carousel, built in 1912, has been refurbished and is now located in the museum. To ride the Carousel it costs only $2 for both adults and children.

The Junior Jet Club:
This is an area in the museum for children up to 6 years old. There are many hands on activities for the little kids. They get to engineer with legos and collect moon rocks! The use of the Junior Jet Club is included with the museum admission or can be used exclusively for $2.50 a child.
The Firefighter Museum is located within the Cradle of Aviation Museum. There are plenty of exhibits celebrating the history of the Long Island firefighting. Students will learn different fire safety techniques like "Crawl Low in Smoke", "Stop-Drop-Roll", and "Home Escape Planning". Admission into the Firefighter Museum is $5 for adults and $4 for kids.
There are over 75 great air and space craft exhibits celebrating the discovery of flight and aircraft at the Cradle of Aviation Museum. Many of these exhibits involve different kinds of kites. These kites helped in the experimentation of flight and man. Kite exhibits include:
The museum is extremely popular for class trips. The museum provides many resources to aid teachers and students when visiting. For example, they offer a 40 page "Educator Guide" when you book a visit. The museum also has many interesting 30 minute classes for the kids, like the new "iRobot" where kids can learn what is needed to engineer a robot after a human!

Parties & Events
The Cradle of Aviation Museum hosts parties and Special Events. The Reckson Center Atrium provides a nice backdrop for events and can hold over 1000 people. The Dome Theater is also great for parties.
Don't forget to eat at the Red Planet Cafe! The cafe is open from 10am to 3:30pm. You can eat your first meal on mars in the year 2040! The Cafe can hold up to 200 people for parties too.
There are different themed parties for different aged groups. The parties are for 2 hours and costs $350 for up to 25 people (kids and adults). The parties include invitation, a craft activity, pizza, soda,and juice. You can call (516) 572-4066 to book a party.

The museum is adding a digital planetarium! It will be one of the largest and powerful virtual simulators in the world.
