Atlantis Marine World Aquarium

Atlantis Marine World is a full scale aquarium on the east end of Long Island, in Riverhead. The aquarium is themed around the Lost City of Atlantis (a legendary metropolis believed to have been swamped by a tsunami thousands of years ago) and provides a mysterious and adventurous time for young people, where you get to explore the ruins of the the Lost City. If you are bringing a few kids to the aquarium, the cost of admission can add up. Top that with food and attractions, the price can add up quickly. And most Long Island families are on a budget.

There are ways to save for Atlantis Marine World. The Long Island Entertainment Book has $5.00 up to 5 P.O.P. admissions. Besides that, there are coupons for other attractions in the book and also for numerous restaurants, sporting events and you name it. It's a great value and you will end up saving money.

Shark Dive - The 120,000 gallon Lost City of Atlantis Shark Exhibit allows you to be in a cage with sharks swarming around you! This is an incredible adventure which provides an educational program about sharks. Atlantis Marine World provides the supplies that you need to be a part of the action, which includes a wetsuit, scuba gear, and an underwater mask.

The Atlantis Explorer Tour Boat - This boat takes you on a trip down the Peconic River and into Flanders Bay, where you can learn about the environment and the aquatic life of the Peconic waters.

Interactive Salt Marsh - You can dip your feet and explore the Aquarium's salt marsh, which includes spider crabs, horseshoe crabs, and whelks.

Penguin Encounter - This is a 45 minute up close and interactive experience with an African penguin. You will learn how the penguins are cared for and get to view the Penguin Pavilion exhibit. There is a penguin school. The penguins swim and waddle and show off their stuff!

Pirate Snorkel Adventure - Tropical snorkeling right on Long Island! This activity has the kids help to find missing treasure by searching for clues at the bottom of the lagoon. While searching, the kids will discover the many different kinds of fish. This is great fun for those who love to snorkel. Atlantis Marine world will provide everything you need for this exhibit: wet suit, life preserver, and snorkel gear.

Scientist for a day - This is a one in a lifetime chance for a kid to be a scientist for a day aboard the Atlantis Explorer Tour Boat. The kids will collect data using the same methods and tools used by real scientists.

Discovery Tower - How exciting! Atlantis Marine World provides a slowly revolving observatory ride that takes you 100 feet into the air where you can view the beautiful landscape of Long Island, including the Pine Barrens and the east end of Long Island.

Nemo's Family Fun Center - Atlantis Marine World's arcade with games for all ages.

Poseidon's Peak & Playground - A fun playground for the little ones with views along the beautiful Peconic River. This attraction has a 25 foot rock climbing wall.

Ray Bay - a chance for you to touch a stingray and participate in their feedings.

Sea Lion Kiss - receive a kiss and a pic with a Sea Lion

Submarine Simulator - find out what an underwater roller coaster would feel like in this submarine simulator.

Touch Tank - for all ages, you can find out what it feels like to touch the clams, hermit crabs, horseshoe crabs and sea stars. A chance to get your hands dirty!

Unearthing Atlantis - find out what it's like to be an archaeologist! Learn the techniques used by archeologists while digging for fossils and uncovering ancient bones. There's a lot more to this exhibit, including decoding the ancient Atlantean alphabet and discovering an abandoned dig tunnel.

Taste Long Island - this wine and cheese cruise sets sail during the summer months and provides a nice relaxing trip along the beautiful Peconic River. You can enjoy the wines from the local Raphael Vineyards on the Atlantis Explorer boat.

As long as the weather permits, the Atlantis Explorer runs seasonally and sets sail directly behind the Aquarium.
